President Mohammadu Buhari has congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her re-election as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the fourth term following her party Awami League's landslide victory in the 11th parliamentary elections held on December 30.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I have the honour to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Your Excellency on your victory recorded in the just concluded Parliamentary elections,” the Nigerian president said in a letter addressed to PM Hasina.
“Your Excellency and your party’s historic landslide victory in the elections is a testimony to the excellent leadership style and commitment to the interest of the citizens, as well as the progress recorded during your previous stewardships,” President Buhari said in the congratulatory message.
Terming Hasina’s victory a definite expression of trust and confidence in her able leadership by the Bangladeshi people, Buhari said, “I have no doubt that with your exemplary and visionary leadership Bangladesh will maintain its fast growth and development traction which would continue to impact positively on her friendly people.”
He reaffirmed Nigeria’s avowed commitment to robust engagements as an active partner in the two countries’ joint march to prosperity, according to the letter.
“I look forward to further strengthening the existing cordial relations at all fronts between our two friendly countries in the coming days,” President Buhari added.
