Nigeria Football Supporters ’ Club President -General Rafiu Ladipo feels the Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr deserves respect for his winning the country’s three competitive matches since his employment in August last year .
Ladipo ’s comments came against the backdrop of the Nigeria Football Federation ’s failure to pay Rohr his three months ’ salary.
Our correspondent learnt that the 63- year-old German is also being owed match bonuses by his employers.
Ladipo , who has expressed concern over the development , urged the national football governing body to fulfil their obligation to pay the former Burkina Faso manager .
The sports enthusiast and financial supporter of grassroots sports development insisted the NFF had no business struggling to pay the national coach his entitlements .
“ There should not be any problem between the coach (Rohr ) and the NFF over payment of salary, ” the NFSC chief told our correspondent on the telephone on Monday.
“ The NFF should respect the agreement they signed with the coach in the interest of Nigerians and the national team .
“ Rohr has won all his (competitive) matches and he deserves respect for what he has done .”
However , Ladipo believes the NFF will resolve their financial challenges and pay the former Gabon coach, who has since pledged his loyalty to the federation .
“ I know that the NFF officials are working hard to raise money to pay the coach,” the supporters ’ club leader said.
“ We shouldn’ t take chances because we can ’ t afford to miss out on a place at the World Cup in Russia next year due to money issues.
“ We must all support the NFF and the coach to enable the Eagles to qualify for the World Cup.”
