Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, has condoled with the people and government of Kwara state over the death today of Rep. Funke Adedoyin.

In a condolence message, Dogara described the late Adedoyin as a vibrant lawmaker whose death came as a shock.

“News of the death of Hon. Princess Funke Adedoyin came as a great shock. She was a vibrant lawmaker and dedicated public servant,” the Speaker said.

“We in the House of Representatives pray that God grants her family, constituents and the people and government of Kwara state the fortitude to bear the loss.”

Up until her death, Adedoyin – who once served as Minister of state for Health – represented Irepodun Isin/ Ekiti /Oke Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara State.

Adedoyin, 56, was said to have died in Abuja in the early hours of Friday. She was said to have succumbed to cancer.

She was the daughter of the prominent industrialist, Prince Samuel Adedoyin, chairman of Doyin Group of Companies.

Princess Omolola Olobayo, a close relation of the deceased, confirmed her death to newsmen on Friday in Omu-Aran.

“The lawmaker travelled abroad for routine check up on her health situation but we believed that she will survive it but she gave up the ghost this morning (Friday)”.

Ahmad, in a message issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Malam Shuaib Abdulkadir, described the demise of the federal lawmaker as a colossal loss to the people of her constituency, the family and the entire PDP family.

Ahmad, who lamented that Kwara state has lost one of her best representatives, however, prayed to God to give the family and the state the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
