“You cannot be successful by default”
The almighty God is always good to us; He keeps and guides us towards the path of truth and success. This is one of the major reasons that makes our existence, to Him be all the glory. We want to appreciate you also for being part of this programme every week. It’s our desire that you will be moulded and transmuted into an exceptional image of true purpose for your life. You are the focus of God and He wants to make you the central focus in your own generation. Work in the scheme of God and it is an assurance that your life will become better. It’s our prayer that this month you shall harvest you divine blessing in Jesus name.
Today, we shall open another chapter in our discussion; GROW YOUR LIFE. We shall be looking at The Law of Rubber Band. Rubber band can only be useful when it’s stretched. The scope of life has the same effect. Human beings cannot reflect the reality of our purposes when there is nothing that will stretch us. Sometimes I have sat to observe if there are few things we can do without applying this law of Rubber band and I have discovered that there is nothing. Growth won’t take place in a person that remains rigid. It’s compulsory for us to expand. This expansion must cut across our total lives. We must be able to put measures that will accommodate the kind of growth we desire. You must expand to grow. Here are few things John Maxwell suggests:
1. Few People Want To Stretch: Most people only use a fraction of their ability and rarely strive to reach their full potential. If there is no tension in your life to grow, there is little desire to stretch. A lot of people are settling for average. Average is what the failures claim to be when their family and friends ask them why they are not more successful. Average is the top of the bottom, the best of the worst, the bottom of the top, the worst of the best. Which of these are you? Average means being run-of-the-mill, mediocre, insignificant, and also-ran, a nonentity. Being average is the lazy person’s cop-out; it’s lacking the guts to take a stand in life; it’s living by default. Being average is to take up space for no purpose; to take a trip through life, but never pay the fare; to return no interest for God’s investment in you.
2. Settling For The Status Quo Ultimately Leads To Dissatisfaction: Most people are naturally tempted to settle into a comfort zone where they choose comfort over potential. They fall into familiar patterns and habits, doing the same things in the same ways with the same people at the same time and getting the same results. If you have ever settled for status quo and then wondered why your life isn’t going the way you hoped, then you need to realize that you will only reach your potential if you have the courage to push yourself outside your comfort zone and break out of a mind-set of mediocrity. You must be willing to leave behind what feels familiar, safe, and secure. You must give up excuses and push forward. You must be willing to face the tension that comes from stretching forward toward your potential. YOU SHALL SUCCEED.
