Buhari’s absence at May Day Celebration leads to Demonstrations

As Nigeria and other Countries mark the May 1 International Workers’ Day also known as May Day, Nigeria’s number one Public servant, President Muhammadu Buhari is conspicuously absent . There are reports that President Buhari’s health has deteriorated since he returned from a medical sojourn in the United Kingdom.

This year’s May Day celebration was graced by the minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige, Senate President Bukola Saraki and few other political personalities were present. However, the Permanent secretary in the ministry who stood in for the President,  was received with anger and chants of *we no go gree oo, we no go gree*.

What would have been a peaceful and successful May Day celebration at the Eagle Square in Abuja, was progressively disrupted and truncated, as worker staged walk out from both the leadership of the Organised Labour and Federal government representatives.

Nigerians have also taken to twitter to lament their frustration at the increasing disappearing acts by the Presidency..
