Super Eagles coach reveals the club Mikel Obi will join in January 2017

Nigeria Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has reiterated that Mikel Obi will leave Chelsea in January 2017

- Rohr said Mikel will be on his way to France to join Olympique Marseille

- The midfielder has been at Stamford bridge for the past ten year

Coach of the Nigeria's Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has explained that his captain at the national team Mikel Obi is close on a deal to join French side Olympique Marseille in the January 2017 transfer.

Rohr who has shown serious concern to Mikel Obi's lack of playing time this season under new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte said the French club have shown superb move to sign the former Pepsi academy player.

This season in the Premier League, Mikel Obi has not played any game for Chelsea, and the issue has generated lots of controversies among many sports pundits.

'' I saw Mikel when I went to London, and I call tell you that he is  advanced discussions with Marseille,'' the 63-year-old German said.

Earlier this week, Mikel Obi was said to be considering a move to the Chinese Super League, but with this latest development, it means the midfielder will face the exit doors at Chelsea in January 2017.
