Breaking: APC supporters shut down Port Harcourt

A protest is rocking Rivers state as supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters have shut down Port-Harcourt.

The supporters are protesting what they termed killings of their members, harassment and blackmailing of the security agencies by the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members especially over harassment and blackmailing during the December 10 re-run election held in the state.

According to Vanguard, the protesters numbering over a thousand carried placards saying; “The sacrifice of the police is commendable,” “The Police tried their best but Wike won’t let them be,” and “Blood thirsty Wike on the prowl”.

They are demanding the immediate resignation and the investigation of the Rivers State INEC REC & and all others, whom according to them, “Governor Wike compromised and indulged in bribery/corruption, which subverted the true will of the people, and resulted to a very poor conduct of the rerun election by INEC, as clearly exposed in the trending audio recording of Nyesom Wike’s conversation with INEC officials.”

They said they were equally “protesting the barbaric killing and beheading of a senior police officer and his men at ONELGA during the last rerun election and other crimes against humanity sponsored/supported by Wike’s government in Rivers State.”

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it will conclude two outstanding elections in River state next year.

The commission said, the two elections, which have been slated for the State Assembly will be conducted in Etche local government area.
