APC accuses Fayose of plotting to hijack FG scheme

The APC alleges that Governor Ayo Fayose is misinforming the beneficiaries of the federal government’s N-Power scheme in the Ekiti state

- The party claims Fayose is attempting to hijack the federal government’s project to his advantage

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti state has accused Governor Ayo Fayose of planning to hijack the federal government’s N-Power scheme.

The party in a statement by its publicity secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, on Monday, December 19, warned Ayodele Fayose against misinforming the beneficiaries of the federal government’s N-Power scheme in the state, The Eagle online reports.

Olatunbosun alleged that Fayose recently assembled hundreds of Ekiti state youths enlisted by the federal government to benefit from its employment scheme at the government house under the impression that the scheme was state owned.

The party said Fayose even went as far as making promises of stipends and other conveniences, including churning out details of what they should do and what they should not do in his attempt to hijack the project to his advantage.

APC said it was fraudulent for the governor who spent days and nights criticising all development programmes initiated by President Muhammadu Buhari to turn around and attempt hijacking the N-Power programme he does not wish well to his advantage.

"It is amusing that a governor who believes that he is in government for self-enrichment and who has never hidden his anti-people conducts by refusing to encourage job-creation schemes and always wishing Buhari’s administration bad luck in its welfare programmes could suddenly attempt to hijack N-Power to his advantage,” the party said.

The party said Fayose had a record of initiating anti-people policies since assumption of office which has seen about 1,464 youths jobless in just one and half years of his tenure.

In another development, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) to immediately take over situations at the Edo state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This is because of an alleged threat by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to burn down the building housing the electoral umpire as the election tribunal continues into a petition brought to it by the PDP.

The election was reportedly won by Godwin Obaseki forcing Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the PDP to seek a reversal with claims the exercise held late this year, was riddled with malpractices.
